“It’s sticky,” Theresa said as she scrunched up her nose and stared at the blob. Thomas turned to Theresa and repeated  ” Just add a little more flour.” I tried not to laugh as Thomas imitated my instructions in such a grown up kind of way.

It took Theresa a little while to dig in and get…well messy.  Thomas on the other hand…” You mean we can get as messy as we want!!” His eyes were wide and filled with excitement.  After a few minutes the excitement wore off on Theresa too.

Theresa’s blob soon turned into a heart.  Thomas’s blob got bigger and bigger.  One moment it was a ship…the next a t-rex.  All I know..is that it became one really big pretzel!

Pretzel Recipe

1 package of yeast

1 1/2 cups warm water

4 cups flour

1 egg

1 T sugar

1 T salt

Combine the yeast and warm water and let stand for a minute or two.

(Water temp. note: The water should be warm, but not too warm. Simply stick your finger in the water…because I am fancy like that.  The temperature should be warm and comfortable..not too hot otherwise it will kill your yeast.)  The yeast will form bubbles and foam.

Okay, that really is the hardest part.  Next, combine everything else and add yeast mixture. Knead till smooth…not too sticky.

Make shapes, letters, animals. As Thomas would say, “Add more flour if it is too sticky.”

Brush with egg and sprinkle with sea salt.

Bake 425 degrees for 15 min. or until brown.

Enjoy! MMMmmm

A little more advanced ???  Add fillings…ham, cheese…nutella.  Sprinkle with…cinnamon sugar, parmesan and mozzarella, or seed mixtures.

I use to love reading…so I don’t know what happened.   Somewhere, I lost my love for reading and now my husband is wondering when I last finished a book. And, it’s true.  I have no committment to finishing books.  It could be a great book, but as soon as a boring chapter comes along I stop! Three cups of tea..stopped, A long way gone by Ismael Bea ( a beautiful book, that I highly reccomend)…and I stopped!
So here I go.  I am climbing back on the bike and hoping that my love for reading will just simply arrive once again out of practice.  I am committed to finishing these three books by April and you can hold me to it.

Here is a quote from the book which has become one of my prayers- ” I want the passion that God puts inside of me to be so full that compassion flows out.”

Oh…and I am reading the…

I kind of skipped trainging wheels on the wall street journal, but it is time that I am up to date!

I am off to a good start 1/2 way through one 1/4 way through another and a few days into a paper that I understand hardly anything about. My goal is to tackle the first three by April and the paper well hopefully by then I will understand more than the gyst.
